Take
your bicycle tour
in Slovakia
Slovakia
is a land of breath-taking, wild natu-
re and panoramas, small,
rustic villages
rooted
in folk tradition, churches, castles,
numerous
UNESCO World Heritage sites,
incredible historical heritage
plus safe
backroads with good
surfaces for cycling.
The rich
nature
of the mountains, river
valleys
and forests still contains
bears,
wolves and
lynx, although it is unlikely
you will meet one
of these on
your tour! All
this
makes cycling
in Slovakia perfect for
a varied
vacation.
We
offer three bicycle tours in Slovakia:

Moderate
Tours

Challenging
Tours
|
| Easy -
bike
tour follows a course of a river, usually downstream;
the terrain profile is almost level, the route can
be easily traveled by beginner bikers. |
|
|
|
Moderate –
the bike tour is evenly distributed over
hilly terrain and less demanding flat parts;
1 or 2 more challenging
days of ascents and
descents (crossing a
mountain range), the
route can be managed by
recreational cyclists who
ride regularly at home. |
|
Challenging -
only 1 or 2 easy days; the rest of the route is challenging
in terms
of terrain: several highland
or mountain ranges to be crossed during the tour, with long, steep climbs.
The route is suitable for well-trained recreational cyclists or accomplished
sports enthusiasts, who will enjoy the very difficulty of the terrain. |

Bicycle
trails in Slovakia – surfaces you will encounter
All bicycle tours follow a solid surface (tarmac), and are well
suited for a hybrid bike.
Only a few short sections go over easy
terrain with fine gravel surface. For this reason
we don’t recommend
using a road bike. In Slovakia there is a dense network
of
small
3rd class roads ideal for cycling. The surface is of
good quality and there
is little
traffic.
If a cyclist should cross a busy road, the
route guide
will always
warn you
of the situation.
Bicycle
tours in Slovakia - daily sections
The
average riding distance per day is about 50 km / 32 miles. We don’t
recommend
exceeding 70 km / 45 miles per day. There is not enough time then
to see noteworthy sites, which would be a great shame. Our desire
is to offer a balanced tour, with ample time for you to absorb
what’s going on around you and to relax.
