Do
you prefer to cycle alone or
only with
people you know?
You decide what
time you
will
start in the morning, what pace
you want to travel at, and where and when
you take a
break
in our self-guided tours,
where you will not miss our professional
services.
Our
detailed maps, route descrip-tions and GPS show
you the way. Your
luggage will
be waiting for you at your next
overnight
stop. Do not be worried about
being on your
own in
a different country. We
rent you
a mobile phone and provide a
contact person to
help you in emergencies,
in unexpected
situations
and in case of language barriers.
Daily segments
The average daily distance is 35 miles (56 km): the longest segment
is 45 miles (72 km).
This distance is dependent on the distance
between accommodation facilities and the
difficulty of the given
segment. This distance can be changed by modifying the
organization
of the program to suit either more demanding cyclists, or those
wishing for
shorter daily trips.
Contact person and communication
When on the tour route, communication between you and us is done
through our
assistance service, whereby a member of Topbicycle
will act as a contact person for you.
We will lend out a mobile
phone so you can call us. The contact person can help you in
case of emergencies, unexpected situations or the language
barrier as well as contact you
with news to improve your tour
along the way. Expect a prompt response if you call us.
We
offer assistance in English, German or Czech.
Navigating your way along the route – How not to get lost!
We use three different methods on our self guided tours to ensure
that you find your way
along the route without difficulties.
Route Description
Each participant obtains a written description of the route,
with distances provided
between important points along the
trail, enabling one to keep track of kilometers
remaining to
the end, etc. The itinerary contains further information (points
of interest,
refreshments, etc.), so the participant can plan
for each segment.
Detailed Maps
Cycling route maps
Each person gets a set of maps with their route highlighted
in by us. The scale
of
these maps is
1:50 000 (2 cm on map = 1 km of terrain) or occasionally
1:75 000
and are the best
available
maps
in terms of accuracy and detail.
Town maps
Each person also gets maps of the towns they will be staying
in with the
location
of their accommodation marked in by us.
Contact details to the hotels
and
pensions are provided.
GPS Navigation
Each
couple or group doing a self-guided tour also get a GPS console
pre-programmed
with their route. We use American-made
Garmin Geko 201 consoles, which are the smallest
and lightest waterproof GPS consoles available. Their small
size does not
hinder their
capacity. During navigation, it can
tell you of upcoming turns, show speed during trip,
show time
of sundown
and give other statistical data.
